Renovating in winter could save you time and money.

If you have been toying with the idea of renovating or fixing up your home, but are hanging out for Spring, perhaps you should think again. The winter months can actually be an excellent time to get those interior upgrades out of the way. There are a couple of very good reasons for this:

Greater availability of contractors

The simple fact of supply and demand means that the colder and wetter winter months are traditionally also a slower time for trades and contractors. This means your chances of getting one that is available within your timeframe and budget, are higher.

It’s sale time

End of season sales are all around, so grabbing a bargain on tiles, fittings and fixtures, furnishings or appliances are more than likely. Industry demand is also lower than during the Spring/Summer season so stock supplies may be better.

 

Permit approvals

Given the lower overall building activity in the market, you may find approvals and permits are processed within shorter timeframes. This can increase the efficiency of starting your project and decrease the overall time and cost, as well as the impact on your home and family.

Winter can be a great time to tackle those planned interior renovations, an upgrade of the garage area or increasing the energy efficiency of your home. As always, it is important to determine what renovations are a priority to you and how much you can accommodate the upheaval that comes with change.
