Did you make any New Year’s resolutions this year?
How is it going? A huge congratulations if you are still sticking to them and on track. If not, don’t be too hard on yourself; you are not alone. Studies show that only 8% of people achieve their New Year’s goals!
How long did you last? After analysing millions of online global activities research conducted by Strava (the social network for athletes) was able to pinpoint the date when most people report failing their resolution. It appears that January 12 seems to be the fateful day for most New Year’s resolutions to be discarded – it doesn’t take long for us to give up by the look of it!
For many of us apart from health, travel and money goals, wanting to spend more time with family usually sit in the top 10 resolutions. Creating a living space that suits your needs and is not only functional but one you are also proud to share with loved ones will naturally have you spend more time gathered together. Entertaining, playing and simply enjoying downtime is far easier when your surroundings reflect your purpose, style and moods.
Which room in your home is the most popular one? Do you tend to congregate in the kitchen or are you the outdoors type, with the BBQ and backyard the centre of all action?
Whichever it may be, remember to make resolutions for your home that will increase your enjoyment of it. Start your research and planning now. Remember, the bigger the project, the more time you will need to plan and get things done right.
Oh, and how do you make sure you stick to your resolution? Talk about it, ask for support and remember, one step at a time. Just like building, it’s a process with a beginning, a middle and an end.
All the best for the month ahead,
